(Reblogged from pitchfork)
I always dreamed of going out to space. The idea of going to a planet where nobody’s ever been is attractive to me, it just suits my nature. Maybe when I first moved to Portugal, I was like, “How is this going to work?” But once we started working together and I started seeing the guys on tour pretty regularly, all the reservations faded away.

Pitchfork: A Daft Punk/Panda Bear Collaboration?

In other exciting Daft Punk news, a Panda Bear collaboration may be in the works. Noah Lennox told French outlet Les Inrocks that he initially approached them to remix a song from Tomboy. “And then they offered me to work with them on their new project”, Lennox said. No word yet on exactly how the collaboration will take shape.

Another thing is that I like to think about music— it’s weird to say it— as a sport. But only in terms of golf, as far as the course being music and me being the golfer. So it’s competitive but only with yourself. With the last one doing well, it made it a challenge to feel like I was improving in some way.

It’s weird on so many levels because I’m back staying in my mom’s house. She has this whole top floor that she doesn’t really use. It’s like having our own place but not. And I’m taking my daughter to the same school that I went to. So I’m back in my family’s house, going to the school that I used to, going over to Josh’s house to work all the time like I used to. It’s like a total restart on everything.

Even before I wrote any songs, I had this idea of a triangle where the voice was at the top, some sort of guitar element on one side, and then some sort of really basic rhythm on the other side. That’s where I started from in the recording process.

I don’t feel like I have any sort of mastery of it, but I enjoy trying to figure out a way to deal with machines— they become like little buddies or something. It’s almost the same way you might develop a relationship with a dog— maybe that’s weird to say— but there becomes an understanding you reach after a while. You have your own way of dealing with it.
